The City of Evanston does not require point of sale inspections for property transfers. We do require registration and inspection of vacant properties. If the property is vacant it needs to be registered and inspected so a complete list of violations can be disclosed to a potential buyer. There is a $400 annual vacant property registration fee and a one-time $500 inspection fee. All fees are required to be paid prior to the issuance of transfer stamps.
